What counts as a quick loan

A quick loan is usually a small, short-term loan you apply for online. The direct lenders below offer between R500 and R8,000.

Quick does not mean the checks are skipped. Every NCR-registered lender must first assess whether you can afford the loan.

Speed is also not the same as cost. A fast loan can still be expensive, so compare the total you will repay.

  • Amounts: R500 to R4,000 at most lenders here. Creditbar goes up to R5,000 and Century up to R8,000.
  • Terms: often until your next payday. Century offers 5 to 180 days, and Creditbar 7 to 61 days.
  • Costs: a first short-term loan is capped at 5% interest a month, plus capped fees.
  • Repayment: usually by DebiCheck debit order from your bank account.

How fast each provider says it pays

These are the providers' own words, taken from their websites. We have not timed any payout ourselves.

Some lenders publish more than one figure. Where they do, we show both, so you can see the range.

Creditbar · NCR-registered lender · NCRCP23238

Creditbar's FAQ says: "In most cases, funds are transferred to your bank account within 15 minutes." Its home page says: "During business hours, funds are transferred to your account within 1 hour after approval."

Jabulani Money · NCR-registered lender · NCRCP22362

"Access loan funds fast — transfers typically post to your account within 5 minutes." Homepage also says approval comes "usually within 10–25 minutes" and money is sent "within the same day or next day". FAQ: "Most applications are reviewed within a few business hours during our working hours."

Crediwise · NCR-registered lender · NCRCP22496

"Get approval and credited in just 5 minutes *" with the footnote "* Approval is based on affordability calculations and bank account transfer times may be affected by bank rules". FAQ: "During business hours (specified on the website), processing the request takes from 15 minutes to 2 hours."

"Get your cash in as little as 15 minutes" (homepage). FAQ: "During business hours (specified on the website), processing the request takes from 15 minutes to 2 hours." Banks do not send money on weekends or after hours; an eWallet transfer is offered as an alternative.

Century · NCR-registered lender · NCRCP20790

"We aim to approve and disburse loan applications on the same day". FAQ: "Before 14:00 (Monday to Friday): Funds are typically credited by 19:00 the same business day"; "After 14:00 or on weekends/public holidays: Funds are credited by 19:00 on the next business day".

"Get first loan online in just 15 minutes!" (homepage). FAQ: "During business hours (specified on the website), processing the request takes from 15 minutes to 2 hours." How to borrow page: "Get money to your account from 1 hour".

Creditomax · Loan-matching service – not a credit provider

Creditomax does not pay out loans itself. Its site says: "After your application is approved, your online loan will be transferred to your account in less than 24 hours!" Actual timing depends on the lender.

MoneyHello · Loan-matching service – not a credit provider

MoneyHello does not pay out loans. Its FAQ says: "Once you've signed your contract, the money is often in your account within a few hours." Timing depends on the lender.

Letocredit · Loan-matching service – not a credit provider

Letocredit does not pay out loans. Its FAQ says: "In most cases, the money is credited to your card on the same day of approval — often within 15–30 minutes after confirmation." Timing depends on the lender.

Each provider's own wording, checked October 2026. Payout times start after approval and the signed DebiCheck mandate, and depend on your bank.

Loan-matching services do not pay out loans. The lender they match you with decides when you are paid.

What slows a quick loan down

  • Missing documents. Most lenders here want your ID and 3 months' bank statements. Prime Loans also asks for a payslip and proof of residence.
  • Sharing bank statements. Century and LendPlus let you share statements through TruID instead of uploading them. Century also uses Gathr.
  • The DebiCheck mandate. You approve the debit order with your own bank. Lenders such as Creditbar, Century and Crediwise ask for this before paying out.
  • Bank cut-off times. Century says weekday applications before 14:00 are typically paid by 19:00 that day.
  • Weekends and public holidays. Prime Loans says banks do not send money on weekends or after hours. It offers an eWallet transfer instead.
  • Too many applications. Each one can mean another credit check. Apply to one or two lenders, not many.

Get ready before you apply

  1. Check the lender's NCR number on the NCR register.
  2. Have your SA ID and your last 3 months' bank statements ready as PDFs.
  3. Apply early on a weekday, while the lender's team is working.
  4. Read the quote. Check the total you repay and the repayment date.
  5. Sign the agreement and approve the DebiCheck mandate when your bank asks.

Quick loans in South Africa: frequently asked questions

How quickly can I get a quick loan?

It depends on the lender, your documents and your bank. Lenders here publish times from 5 minutes to the next business day. Those are their own claims, not promises.

Are quick loans more expensive than other loans?

Not by law. The same caps apply to every short-term loan: 5% interest a month on a first loan, plus capped fees. Compare the total you repay, not just the speed.

Can I get a quick loan on a weekend?

You can usually apply, but banks may not send the money until the next business day. Century says weekend applications are paid by 19:00 on the next business day. Prime Loans offers an eWallet transfer instead.

Why is my quick loan taking so long?

Common reasons are missing documents, an unsigned DebiCheck mandate or applying after the cut-off. Check your SMS and email for requests from the lender. If you are still waiting, contact the lender directly.

Can I get a quick loan if I am under debt review?

No. You cannot take new credit while you are under debt review. Prime Loans also excludes anyone under an administration order. Jabulani Money names debt review as a common reason for decline.

A note on how we work: Lendable Marketplace is a comparison website, not a lender or a registered credit provider. Some lenders listed are directly registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR); others operate as loan-matching or aggregation services that refer you to a registered provider. Always confirm who you're contracting with, and check any NCR registration number at ncr.org.za, before signing.
