About Lendable Marketplace

We compare South African payday, short-term and small loans in one place, so you can see real terms side by side before you apply anywhere.

Compare our lenders

What we do

Lendable Marketplace is an independent comparison website for South African consumers looking at payday, short-term, and small loan options. Rather than applying separately with multiple providers to see what each one offers, our site brings together loan amount, term, rate, and eligibility information from a panel of 14 lenders, so you can compare them in one place before deciding where to apply.

Independent financial comparison and market research on a laptop

We're not a bank, a registered credit provider ourselves, or a loan-matching service — we're a publisher of comparison and educational content, monetised through referral relationships with the lenders and matching services in our panel. When you click through to a lender and are approved for a loan, we may receive a referral fee from that lender. This doesn't change the amount, rate, or terms you're offered — those are set entirely by the lender you end up dealing with.

How we build our content

Every loan amount, term, and rate figure on this site is sourced directly from the relevant lender's own published information — we don't estimate or extrapolate figures we haven't been able to verify. Where a lender's information doesn't specify something (an NCR registration number, an exact rate, a specific eligibility criterion), we say so explicitly, rather than fill the gap with a plausible-sounding guess.

We also don't publish star ratings, review counts, or customer testimonials for any lender, because we don't hold genuine, verified user review data — publishing fabricated ratings would be exactly the kind of invented content we're trying to avoid. Where we discuss a lender's strengths and things worth checking, that reflects an analysis of their own published terms and eligibility criteria, not a survey of past borrowers.

Our guides — covering everything from eligibility honesty to South African credit law — are written to inform your decision, including in cases where the honest answer is that a product likely isn't a fit for your situation. We'd rather tell you that plainly than route you toward an application that's likely to be declined.

Our relationship with our lenders

Our panel includes both direct lenders (registered directly with South Africa's National Credit Regulator, or registered as a company outside South Africa where that's what a lender's own information states) and loan-matching or aggregation services, which connect applicants to a range of underlying providers rather than lending directly themselves. We show whichever type each lender actually is, and we display each lender's own stated NCR registration number, or company registration and country, wherever that information is published — we don't fabricate a registration detail for a lender that hasn't provided one.

Being featured on Lendable Marketplace isn't an endorsement of a lender's suitability for your specific circumstances. Our responsible lending page sets out your rights as a borrower under the National Credit Act in full. Every loan application is still subject to that individual lender's own affordability assessment, and it's worth reading each lender's full terms — and your pre-agreement quotation — carefully before signing anything.

A note on how we work: Lendable Marketplace is a comparison website, not a lender or a registered credit provider. Some lenders listed are directly registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR); others operate as loan-matching or aggregation services that refer you to a registered provider. Always confirm who you're contracting with, and check any NCR registration number at ncr.org.za, before signing.

Who operates this site

Lendable Marketplace is a trading brand of Sterk Digital Limited, a company registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI676988), whose registered office is at Unit 1, 212-218 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland BT4 3ET. More about the company is at sterkdigital.com.

We publish this because a comparison site in a regulated category should be straightforward about who stands behind it. Sterk Digital Limited operates the site and is responsible for its editorial content; it is not itself a lender, a credit provider, a credit broker, or a financial services provider, and it does not make credit decisions, process applications, or hold your loan agreement. Any credit agreement you enter into is between you and the provider you apply to, under that provider's own terms and its own affordability assessment.

Editorial content on this site is produced by Mark Thompson, our personal finance content expert. You can reach the editorial team directly athello@lendablemarketplace.com.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lendable Marketplace a lender?

No. We're a comparison and information site. We don't issue loans, hold your money, or make lending decisions — those decisions are made entirely by the individual lenders and loan-matching services in our panel, each operating under its own registration and criteria.

How does Lendable Marketplace choose which lenders to feature?

We work with a panel of 14 South African lenders, researched individually against their own published terms — loan amounts, repayment periods, rates, and registration details. We don't accept payment to feature a lender more prominently than its actual terms would justify, and we've declined to publish facts we couldn't verify rather than guess.

Does Lendable Marketplace charge me anything?

No. Comparing loans on our site is free. We're paid by our lenders when a comparison leads to a successful referral — see our how we make money page for the full detail on that arrangement.
