Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026. This policy explains what information Lendable Marketplace collects when you use this site, and how it's used, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Compare loans nowWho this policy covers
This policy applies to lendablemarketplace.com ("Lendable Marketplace," "we," "us," or "our"). We're an independent comparison and information site for South African loan products — we're not a registered credit provider, and we don't process loan applications ourselves. When you click through to a lender from our site and submit an application, that lender's own privacy policy governs how they handle your information from that point.

What information we collect
We collect information in a few limited ways:
- Information you provide directly — for example, if you email us via our contact page, we receive whatever information you choose to include in that message.
- Automatically collected technical information — standard web analytics data such as pages visited, time on site, referring source, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This helps us understand how the site is used and identify technical issues.
- Cookies and similar technologies — used for basic site functionality and analytics. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some site functionality.
We do not collect the personal or financial information you submit directly to one of our lenders when you apply for a loan — that information goes to the lender, not to us, and is governed by that lender's own privacy policy.
How we use your information
We use the information described above to operate and improve this site: responding to enquiries sent through our contact page, understanding how visitors use the site so we can improve it, maintaining site security, and complying with our legal obligations. We don't sell personal information to third parties.
Affiliate links and referral tracking
Lendable Marketplace is monetised through affiliate and referral relationships with our lenders, facilitated through a third-party affiliate network. When you click through to a lender from our site, a tracking mechanism (typically a cookie or URL parameter) may be used to record that the referral came from Lendable Marketplace, so that if you're approved for a loan, the lender can attribute the referral to us. This tracking generally doesn't reveal your identity to us — it identifies the referral source, not you personally — but the lender and our affiliate network may separately collect information directly from you as part of your application, governed by their own respective privacy policies.
Your rights under POPIA
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have rights over any personal information we hold about you, including the right to request access to it, request that it be corrected or deleted where appropriate, and object to certain types of processing. To exercise any of these rights regarding information you've sent us directly (for example, via our contact page), please email us at hello@lendablemarketplace.com.
If you have concerns about how we've handled your personal information that we haven't resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.
Data retention and security
We retain information we collect only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information we hold against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, though no method of transmission or storage over the internet can be guaranteed as completely secure.
Where we use third-party service providers — for example, web hosting, analytics, or the affiliate network that tracks referrals to our lenders — those providers process information on our behalf under their own security and data-handling practices. We choose providers that we believe take data protection seriously, but we'd encourage you to review the relevant third party's own policy if you want the full detail on how they specifically handle information.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults seeking information about credit products available to South African consumers aged 18 and over, in line with the minimum age requirement most of our lenders apply. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and this site isn't directed at or designed for use by minors.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
This policy is provided as general information about our privacy practices and hasn't been reviewed by a South African attorney specialising in data protection law. If you have specific legal concerns about how this policy applies to your situation, we'd recommend seeking independent legal advice, or contacting us directly with your question.
