What Fasta offers

Fasta is run by FASTA (Pty) Ltd, a registered credit provider based at 33 Bree Street, Cape Town. It is fully online and takes applications 24/7.

Its main product, FASTACash, is a cash loan from R800 to R15,000. You repay it in 1 to 6 equal monthly instalments by DebiCheck debit order.

You choose an amount and term with sliders, and the total cost is shown upfront. Fasta checks your income from 3 months of bank statements and runs a credit check.

Fasta's own example: "Borrow R15 000 over 6 months at an annual interest rate linked to prime (28.75%). Initiation fee: R1 207.50. Monthly service fee: R69. Credit protection insurance: R68.48 per month. Maximum APR: 123%. Total amount repayable: R18 418.25."

How to choose

  • Check the provider's NCR number on the NCR register. A loan-matching service must tell you which lender you'll sign with.
  • Compare the total amount you will repay, in rand, not only the interest rate.
  • On short-term loans, a first loan may cost at most 5% interest a month, an initiation fee of R165 plus 10% above R1,000 (at most R1,050, and never more than 15% of the loan), and R60 a month in service fees. VAT is added to the fees. See our responsible lending page.
  • Apply to one or two providers at a time. Many applications in a short period can hurt your credit score.

What if I can't repay my Fasta loan?

Fasta asks customers who cannot make a payment to email its collections team at Collections@fasta.co.za. If you are struggling with several debts, speak to a registered debt counsellor. You can find one through the NCR at ncr.org.za.
