Fast Loans in South Africa
Fast, in this market, means a fully online process from application to payout — no branch visit, no posted documents. Here's what that looks like in practice, and which of our lenders describe the fastest process.
Compare loans nowWhat makes an online loan 'fast'
Every one of Lendable Marketplace's 14 lenders runs a fully digital application — but "fast" specifically describes how few steps stand between starting the form and getting a decision. That typically comes down to three things: how quickly the application form itself can be completed, how the lender verifies your documents (automated versus manually reviewed), and how quickly funds move once you're approved.

A handful of our lenders publish specific figures for the first of these. Creditomax states its scoring technology can approve applications in under 15 minutes. LendPlus and Prime Loans both state their applications take around 5 to 7 minutes to complete. Century, Creditbar, and Jabulani Money each describe streamlined, fast-turnaround processes without a specific published time.
What 'fast' doesn't mean
Fast doesn't mean the legal checks are skipped. Every registered credit provider still has to run an affordability assessment before approving your loan under the National Credit Act — automation makes that assessment quicker, not optional. It also doesn't guarantee same-day money in your account; payout timing depends on your bank's own processing once your DebiCheck mandate is signed, which is a separate step from the application and decision.

Getting through a fast application without delays
Have your South African ID, a recent payslip, and typically your last three months of bank statements ready in digital form before you start — needing to track down paperwork mid-application is the most common source of delay. If payout timing matters as much to you as application speed, our same-day loans page focuses specifically on that part of the process.
It's also worth resisting the temptation to submit several fast applications at once "just to see what comes back." Multiple applications in a short window can look like financial distress to a lender's affordability assessment, and each one is a genuine credit enquiry rather than a free comparison. Compare stated terms first, then apply to the lender that's the best fit.
Frequently asked questions
Is a "fast loan" a different product to a normal loan?
No — it's the same loan products described elsewhere on this site (payday, short-term, small loans), marketed around how quickly the process moves rather than a different set of terms. The underlying legal requirements, statutory fee caps, and affordability checks are identical regardless of how the application is described.
What's the fastest part of the process, and what's the slowest?
The application form itself is usually the fastest part — several of our lenders complete it in under ten minutes. The slower, more variable part is usually document verification (matching your uploaded ID and bank statements against your application) and, for approved loans, payout timing, which depends on your bank.
Can I speed up a fast loan application myself?
Yes — having your ID, a recent payslip, and your last three months of bank statements ready and accessible digitally before you start is the single biggest factor within your control. Applying during business hours, when a lender's verification team is active, can also help.
Do fast loans have higher interest rates?
Not by law. A fast application process doesn't change the statutory interest and fee caps that apply to a qualifying short-term credit transaction. If an offer that emphasises speed also carries unusually high fees, compare the total repayment amount against our other lenders before accepting.
